Boardwalk Blaze 1980
This major boardwalk blaze on March 2, 1980, destroyed a blocklong area between Dupont and Porter Avenues, including Surf Skilo, Royal Arcade, Maruca’s Pizza, Carousel Gift Shop, the Playboy Stand, Smith Records, and Trader Tom’s. The fire caused over $2 million in damage.
